Now Count Backward From One Hundred….

Chloroformed410Way back in 1945, there was an attempt by Governor Earl Warren to enact compulsory health insurance in California. As you can see from this Sacramento Bee editorial cartoon by Newton Pratt, the legislation was “chloroformed”. It only took another sixty-two years to wake up again.

  1. But what is that which we have awakened?

  2. Michael Anderson says:

What’s been awakened, George, is the majority of the electorate demanding some sort of health care reform. It’s current name is PPACA, it’s the law of the land, and you just need to get used to it. I am sure that it will be amended for the better over the years, but those amendments won’t come from rock-throwers in the cheap seats who disrespect the outcome of legitimate elections.

Your “blood in the gutters” is an unfortunate and tired meme, George. It’s time to work on another path.

    • Chris Peterson says:

Reminds me of a Mark Twain story in which he is asked to participate in a debate. Twain agrees, as long as he can take the negative side.

“But I haven’t even told you what the subject is”, says the solicitor.

“Doesn’t matter”, says Twain, “any fool can argue the negative.”
