The Heart Of The Heart

Fifteen years ago, fire destroyed Friar Tuck’s. Now, the heart of the heart, owner Greg Cook, has left us as well. The restaurant rose from the ashes, and as long as it stands it will remind us of the good times and laughter at Greg and Rhona’s place.

I worked for Greg as a cook, back in the day, with Peter and Steve. Never had a bad word to say about him, and I enjoyed his company away from work as well because he never acted like a “boss.” He was a heck of a nice guy and one of those who’s efforts brought the town back from near-ruin. I still remember the gunny sacks on the original ceiling when they first opened, and when I got off work, everyone knew where I’d been, because the smell of the fondue permeated my clothing.

See you, sooner than later, Greg.
