  1. George Rebane says:

Baltimore’s crime rate is so high that its residents could claim asylum were they not already American citizens. Time someone started a national conversation on such SH cities, instead of keeping it all quietly tucked away.

    • Let’s not forget all of those dead-red SH southern states either. I’m guessing the Donald won’t criticize them because he will need their electoral votes next year.

    • Chris Peterson says:

If the citizens of Baltimore who wanted to apply for asylum were colored folks, the DWP, (Deplorable White Party), would no doubt have them wait their day in court south of the border. If they were white, then they would probably already live in a utopian state like Kentucky. (A sad joke.)
When the more intelligent party retakes the Senate and White House next year, one of the first items up for vote in Congress should be a law stating that no state can draw more from the federal government than it puts in. Then, we can watch the red states suffer until they come to the realization that red states are welfare states; they are exactly what they complain the most about.
Mr. Rebane and his deplorable ilk should recognize that they are also a part of that category, even though they choose to hide among the less ignorant in blue states. Mr. Rebane, we are your true political benefactors; without us, your red hat, red state, conservative-values mantra would shrivel and die.

Mitch Molotov, I mean McConnell’s home state is a model for Republican policies, along with Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, etc. https://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/news/2018/06/12/kentucky-has-one-of-the-worst-economies-in-the-u-s.html

  3. Steven Frisch says:

Not too surprisingly the highest crime rates by county in the US are largely across the swath of the country that voted for Trump. Also not too surprisingly many of those counties are rural. Take a good look at the solid red south.

Not that crime in urban areas is any the less, and we should be working to reduce it, but even across the great plaines and west regions that voted Trump had high crime.
