Perhaps, with your toon that explains the Sanders plan in the same shallow way that the establishment candidates prefer, you should consider changing your own candidate’s slogan to “More of the Same.”

I know that an in-depth perspective isn’t what you’re going for here, but his plan actually works, and is cheaper and more economically invigorating than the current system.

Or was this simply an attempt to fuel your squabble with your friend Scoopy?

I know all the committed socialists are annoyed that I don’t just parrot the party line and go with the big parade, and I would agree that there needs to be a more equitable distribution of wealth, but I remain leery of solutions that sound good on paper. Deregulation sounded pretty good at the time. Over-regulation could have as many unseen variables. Besides, Bernie has about as much chance of passing his agenda as Nun of the Above has getting elected.

Mostly agreed. What most of Sanders’ detractors don’t tell you is that Shillery has even less of a chance of getting anything done than Bernie does. Republicans, (and I don’t mean just the radical ones), despise her, not to mention that, counter to the claims that she would do better in the general election, no candidate has ever been elected with negative numbers near as high as hers’.

What is viewed as “socialist” today was merely middle-of-the-road politics, back when we were kids. College was free, insurance premiums were a fraction of actual healthcare, taxes on the wealthy were at 90%, unions and wages were strong, and everything worked just fine.

If Trump and Sanders supporters ever figure out that they’re fighting the same foe; Katy bar the door.

One of the things that disturbs me about the movement is the sense of entitlement I hear from so many Bernie (or even Hillary) enthusiasts. Like I said before, it all looks good on paper, but does it take into account the increasing mechanization of the workplace? If all the doom and gloom scenarios of climate change actually come to pass, will there even be a functioning economy as we know it today? Without a robust capitalist stock market to raid, can you just print more money to support the populace? (National debt: $19,000,000,000,000 and rising.)
Whoever gets to sit in the oval office is going to have their hands full at such a volatile time in history. I only wish I had easy answers.

Note that the biggest expense in housing the homeless is the salaries of all the government workers needed to administer the program… http://sfist.com/2016/02/11/pier_80_homeless_shelter_costs_1_mi.php

Interesting interpretation of what ‘socialism’ meant (about 180 from my experience in these United States), and how we got all the “free” and affordable stuff way back when. Well, that ‘way back when’ was before the US Code became so thick that it now tells us where we can fart, scratch, and snort, and what kind of kitchen lights we can put where in our homes. Things were different when corporations had to compete and not count on corporatism to counter competition.

    Off topic. Forgive me.
Congratulations, Mr. Grand Marshall. An honor well deserved!
