Senatorial Sweepstakes

  1. While I like the cartoon, I have to object to your depiction of Willie Brown wearing a tacky white dinner jacket. He’s your classic black tuxedo kind of guy.

But apparently both of you are in synch when it comes to who Newsom should appoint:

Good gawd, Ol’ Willie is 86! You mean to tell me there isn’t a version of Pete Buttigieg anywhere out there in CA state politics? Let’s get some fresh blood in there that can hold the office for another couple of decades, not one that will hold Newsom’s place until the next election.

      • Willie isn’t interested in holding office again. He’s content to write a weekly column for the Chronicle, and open doors for people who need introductions for (I’m guessing) a substantial fee.

The way Feinstein is deteriorating, Newsom may be able to hold the second seat for himself.

Whatever happened to judging a person “not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character?” https://calmatters.org/commentary/2020/11/california-senate-appointment-newsom-kamala/

    Wonderful cartoon, Bob!
