I have talked to two different loggers about some clearing I needed. One told me that the mills, most of which are owned by large corporations like Georgia Pacific, are only processing logs from burns on their privately owned lands and not accepted logs from outside sources. The other said pine is all but worthless and the only trees worth anything are cedar because people are using it for fences and decks. In other words, there is no shortage of wood, just milling capacity as the big boys are shutting out the independent loggers.
