Fall Back, America

Time to set your clocks back to the seventeenth century, when the world was ruled by superstition, fanaticism, and a long period of darkness.

  1. Eric Bare says:

We are still living in those times.

  2. George Rebane says:

Yes, now as then – to preserve the purity of The Faith, the True Believers again want to hang the Skeptics.

  3. rl crabb says:

Our colleges are reverting to speech-free zones, where any mention of a race, gender, or sexual preference other than your own can put you on an enemies list and target you for cyber-bullying. It’s the modern equivalent of the pitchfork-wielding mobs of the bad old days. Very sad, as the Trumpster would say. On the other hand, he’s loaded his cabinet with religious fundamentalists who would gladly lock up gays and other “deviants.” (Todd’s word, not mine.) Same for any woman who dares to think about abortion, even in cases of rape. They’ve done everything they can to drive up the price of health insurance, just to spite the scary black man president.
Yeah, the world is going more medieval every day.

  4. George Rebane says:

Bob – can you cite even one single person on Team Trump who is a “religious fundamentalist”, or who would “gladly lock up gays and other ‘deviants'”, or lock up “any woman who dares to think about abortion, even in cases of rape”?? If not, what word would you use to describe your comment?

  5. rl crabb says:

Trying to get abortion language through the back door? I thought the GOP was against sodomy… https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/gop-abortion-tax-bill_us_59fca946e4b0baea2631965f

  6. George Rebane says:

Bob – all you did was cite some Trump administration members with whose policies you and yours do not agree. None of these are evidence of what you asserted in your 155pm and which I challenged in my 355pm. Is that the logic that reigns here?

  7. rl crabb says:

It just proves that you are on the same far out limb as those cabinet members. You and yours are destroying this nation just as much as the the extremists on the other side of the fence. A pox upon both your houses.

  8. Steve Frisch says:

Seriously, Bob cites Team Trump people saying almost exacty what George challenges him to and George reposnds, “they just disagree with you.”

Funny, I could point precisely wo Roy Moore saying that sodomy should be a crime, homosexual sex is sodomy, and those who commit it should be in jail.

Trump himself in his intevriew with Chris Matthews said women who have abortions shoud face ounsihment, and when rpessed conformed that should mean jail time.

It is as though we live in bizarro world where people can point directly to facts and people can simply say, I don;t neliev in facts.

  9. Michael Anderson says:

All I can say is that “me and mine” have had just about enough of this country’s traitorous idealogues on the nutbagged political edges (left and right) who are using their divisive rhetoric to sow discord and dissent. They are not true Americans and should seriously consider taking their destructive demagoguery to a country where the representative political system is further along the evolutionary path of repelling sociopathic extremism. And they should also pray deeply to their god that they do not get what they so malevolently envision as this country’s future.

  10. jon smith says:

Then there’s Ben Carson. Why or how Rebane would even suggest that team Trump isn’t loaded with religious fundamentalists says a lot about his gilded perception of reality.

    • Steve Frisch says:

Every time I hear the term ‘gilded’ now I think of Trump’s gold plated shitter. He is so big he shits in a gold bowl.

      O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
      Whose stern, impassioned stress
      A thoroughfare for freedom beat
      Across the wilderness!
      America! America!
      God mend thine every flaw,
      Confirm thy soul in self-control,
      Thy liberty in law!

      • Michael Anderson says:

        O beautiful for heroes proved
        In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
        And mercy more than life!
        America! America!
        May God thy gold refine,
        Till all success be nobleness,
        And every gain divine!

  11. fish says:

A post in which Michael makes passionate love to his thesaurus!

  12. Michael Anderson says:

Thanks fish! I’m a lover, not a fighter.

  13. According to Trump (we can believe him, right?), Pence wants to hang all the gays.

  14. Chris Peterson says:

I think everyone should open their Howard Zinnia hymnal to any period of our nation’s history, with the exception of maybe the formative years of the average baby boomer, and get a grip on reality.
We are, have been, and always will be, a war-time society, and the t’s plenty more where that came from headed our way.

  15. Chris Peterson says:

    Zinn. Damn smell check

I’m waiting for the amendment to this bill requiring a scarlet letter to be attached to the insured party… http://news.groopspeak.com/texas-house-passes-bill-to-make-women-buy-rape-insurance-2/
