  1. Well done Bob, but I thought that memorable episode occurred early in Twain’s career when he still needed an introduction, and before such introductions had turned his hair white 😉

  2. Tom Odachi says:

In an answer to a reporter who approached him, asking, “Mr. Clemens, you are a man who has thought much upon all topics… I’d like to know your idea of Heaven and Hell.”
Gazing at the earnest questioner, the man known as Mark Twain, answered, “When I think of the beauteous descriptions of the abode of saints, and when I recollect that many noble, witty, and genial souls have died ‘unregenerate’, I must answer you that while doubtless Heaven has the best climate — Hell has the best society.”

  3. Don Baumgart says:

Some say Twain invented the book tour, speaking to promote his works. True, anyone?
