  1. Chris Peterson says:

Alley Oop was born in 1932, making him 89 and age-wise, right in the wheelhouse for our current Presidential and Senatorial participants, but still more modern than Professor Rebuke’s vision of conservative utopia.

(My dad once took me to Kezar Stadium in SF, where I watched Johnny Unitas throw the alley-oop pass to RC Owens for a touchdown.)

    • Chris Peterson says:

WRONG, old man! It was YA Tittle who threw that pass to RC Owens. I was driving home from the store when I had the corrective flashback. (Back when guys like Leo Nomellini, who played tackle on offense and defense, was an all-star at both.)
Despite what I’ve been told, the memory is the first thing to go. Or, as a kid said on Art Linkletter’s show, “My memory is that thing I forget with.”

  2. Well, Owens played for Baltimore for two years when Unitas was there, so it is possible.

For what it’s worth (and it’s not worth much), the 49ers were headquartered for many years at 7-11 Nevada Street in Redwood City. That was long before Eddie D. got nailed for bribing the governor of Louisiana to get a casino gambling license.
