This puts me in mind of when U.S. Representative Hank Johnson (D, GA) said, “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize”, in response to a proposal to station an additional 8,000 Marines and their dependents on Guam.
Perhaps both Gohmert and Johnson were being facetious.

Great article. But when it says, “we’re desperate to do the minimum amount of research that allows us to keep on believing what already makes us feel good about ourselves” it makes me wonder how many of us truly approach social issues with an unbiased open mind. I pride myself as having arrived at my conclusions independent of outside influence, but often stop my process of examination as soon as I read the words of someone who expresses what I originally felt in much more intelligent terms, (which is often easily the case).
And honestly, I think we all do.
